@arstechnica There are no real U.S. interest out there. It is too costly to do anything commercial, or develope a base. Some people may go there for political kudos. It is a very hostile environment.

And Mars is a one way suicide mission.

This is all politcal smoke and mirrors.

The sensible thing to do is preserve the environment on earth. Learn to care and look after the people on earth. Not reach for a barren rock we are not adapted to live on.
