Attached: 1 image The SMILE UVI uses a four-mirror optical system and detectors to provide a wide FOV of 10°, enabling coverage of the entire polar region at altitude > ~50,000 km. UV light at 160–180 nm is "converted" to green light and imaged by the 1024x1024 CCD. The micro channel plate (MCP) generates an electron cloud when struck by UV photons.
