Review: Apple's hyper-pricey M5 Ultra Mac Studio made me into a vibe coder
Usable local AI is a lot of fun, but how much would you pay for it? https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/09/review-apples-hyper-pricey-m5-ultra-mac-studio-made-me-into-a-vibe-coder/?utm_brand=arstechnica&utm_social-type=owned&utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social

"Apple's hyper-pricey M5 Ultra Mac Studio made me into a vibe coder"
That's a good reason not to buy one 👍🏻
@arstechnica Sunk cost fallacy: "This terrible thing cost me a lot of money. I'd better use it!" - We ALL do this. It's a habit baked into our neurology. It's the reason you drive places you don't need to; you already paid for the car, so you assume you're 'losing' if you don't use it as much as you can.
@arstechnica this is embarrassing. I won't tell programmers what to do with LLMs or not, but "teehee the $$$$ Mac let me turn columns into other columns" is so so so sad.
