The FCC’s WiFi router ban is “an extremely blunt instrument, and it’s going to impact many harmless products in order to stem a real problem,” EFF’s @legind told CNET. https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/fcc-bans-foreign-made-routers-as-national-security-risk/

@eff the Supreme Court ended Chevron deference a couple years ago; this feels like the kind of act that would squarely fall under that kind of designation and I really doubt Congress has explicitly granted FCC this exact power for this rationale, right?
@eff @legind The crime syndicate masquerading as an administration doesn't give a crap about security. My prediction is that this is a shakedown disguised as security theater. Once a router company pledges to build a manufacturing plant in the US, they'll be able to sell here again. Trump-aligned businesses will get millions for site research and planning, and nothing will ever be built. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconn_Valley_Science_and_Technology_Park
@eff @legind Nearly all routers except Starlink (or as I like to call them, Swastilink) routers are made outside the US you say. How unbelievably convenient for one company that just so happens to have links to the American regime.
