I went back and took a bunch of college classes about 20 years ago, as a "non-traditional student" (old fart). I was astounded at how much cheating was going on, _before_ generative so-called "AI".
Many of the students, seemingly more than half, were there to get a scrap of paper they think entitles them to a good-paying job, and couldn't care less about learning. They're in for a rude awakening if they get a job that actually requires the skills they are supposed to have learned.
