What is Counter Galois Onion? A new encryption design for Tor circuit traffic.
The main goal: stronger protection against tagging attacks, where an attacker tries to modify traffic in one place and recognize the change somewhere else on the network. https://blog.torproject.org/introducing-cgo/
Counter Galois Onion: Improved encryption for Tor circuit traffic | Tor Project
Tor is upgrading its relay encryption algorithm for improved security. In upcoming releases, Arti and Tor will both support a new encryption algorithm called Counter Galois Onion (CGO). CGO prevents attackers from tampering with encrypted traffic, adds forward secrecy, and brings Tor's encryption up to modern standards.
blog.torproject.orgWhat is congestion control?
Instead of using a fixed speed limit, congestion control lets Tor adapt how much data moves through a circuit based on available capacity. For users, the goal is simple: improved speed and lower latency. https://blog.torproject.org/congestion-contrl-047/
Congestion Control Arrives in Tor 0.4.7-stable! | Tor Project
Tor has released 0.4.7.7, the first stable Tor release with support for congestion control. Congestion control will result in significant performance improvements in Tor, once Exit relays upgrade. Relay operators: please read!
