@iFixit I often try to fix things, but I was surprised when I actually managed to replace the switch on a desk lamp once. It was down to the good design rather than my own skills.
@iFixit My thinkpad t480 needs a new battery.
@iFixit My wife dropped her brand new iPhone 6 within a week of getting it and broke the screen. I looked up how to replace the screen (possibly on the iFixit site (?)), bought a new screen and the right tools, and did the repair successfully! Scared the crap out of me, especially since I had to come in from the side opposite the sceen and remove everything to get at the screen connector. And the screws were so tiny!!
Immediate next thing after the repair was a case and screen protector...
@iFixit I once repaired a hifi system with a single lego brick. A loose connection had to be secured.
@iFixit I want to try repairing one of those new macbook neos, it'd also be cool to try fixing an iPad given we have quite a few broken ones at work.
@iFixit I recently repaired an old dell laptop that came into my possesion for free. Now it served me well as good as new. I plan to repair more devieces or made them futureproof like upgrading the hardware of my trusty old mac pro.
@iFixit Just found my childhood Casio pt 87 and it needs proper cleaning.
@iFixit Still gotta fix my ear buds
@iFixit replacing batteries and soft parts to extend the life of different devices (headphones, watch, minidisc, etc.) and their modernization (ps4 controller USBC connector). I get a lot of satisfaction from the accumulation of small repairs that means things keep going and going.
@iFixit well, it’s not really a tech thing, but I‘ll need to fix my bicycle after I crashed last week.
@iFixit I would like to repair my old Jolla phone (first generation), but the issue is the battery, so I am not sure how to do it besides hacking a raw lipo cell into it...
@iFixit My favourite fix, or at least the one that got the most "you cant do that!", was opening up a samsung tablet and resoldering some connections. Has been working flawless since.
@iFixit except my very first computer, I've always bought refurbished laptops (mostly Dell ans HP) that I repair with parts from the previous ones.
@iFixit My favorite it's first repair :D
Asus laptop i had for over a decade started getting slow, opened it up, cleaned it, replaced the termal paste, and changed out the HDD for an SSD. It was a world of difference

@iFixit Hot laptop last summer. I was sweating in more ways than one. Cleaned & put PTM7950 thermal pad on CPU & GPU. Tip learned: put clean cut edge at chip edge so peel up from there doesn't pull overhanging pad & tear like on bottom chip in photo. Now it's cooler.😎
Next: I have an old tablet in need of a new battery...
@iFixit
My favorite repair win is an old clothes iron that had an internal cable dislodged after a fall. Next I would really like to open and repair/clean up my gaming keyboard and mouse and subsequently these are the devices I don't give up on as I can't find good replacement models.
@iFixit
I understand you want to see how far we can reach our network of five people! ;-) If so, I'd be happy to help. :D
I repair/rebuild things all the time. Most recently, my son's headphones, where the wire connecting the right and left earphones broke. And also the washing machine, but there wasn't much to fix; the hose inside had slipped. What's next? It depends on what breaks next. :)
Oh! I'm trying to build a "soldering microscope" (quotes are important ;-)

:D #ProjektMikroSzkop
mastodon.social@iFixit I am not able to let go of my Thinkpad T420s. I got it for cheap and replaced the screen and the battery, then slapped a Linux OS on it and it served me well ever since. Even tho it is literally hold together by duct tape because the case is pretty beat up at the bottom. XD
@iFixit My best win wasn't for me, but for my neighbour. The old woman thought his non-smart TV was broken because it didn't turn on, so she was in the way to buy a new one. But I intercepted it, tested his remote, and solded a wire. She was amazed and smiling again! 🤗
@iFixit Nothing huge but battery in old laptop swelled and had to be taken out, thing is still going strong as a router years later
